Hospitalist Physician at Intermountain Health summary:

The Neurohospitalist Advanced Practice Provider at Intermountain Health provides specialized inpatient and outpatient neurological care focused on stroke patients, collaborating closely with a dedicated team of neurologists and neurohospitalists. This role includes managing patient panels and rotating between hospital wards and stroke clinics in a Level 1 Trauma center. About this role:

As a Neurohospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP; nurse practitioner or physician assistant) at Intermountain Health, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience.

This role is a mix of inpatient neurohospitalist shifts and outpatient stroke clinic at Intermountain Medical Center. The APP will collaborate with a dedicated vascular neurologist who works full time in the stroke clinic, as well as dedicated neurohospitalists. The hired provider will also be part of the Intermountain Canyons Region Neurosciences Service Line, including other outpatient neurology physicians and APP's, neuro-hospitalists, neuro critical care providers, and neuro and spine PM&R physicians and APP's.

In this role you can anticipate:

  • Practicing at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah; Level 1 Trauma facility
  • 3-week rotating schedule, including: one week on the wards, one week in the stroke clinic, and one week off
  • Neurohospitalist Week: Tuesday-Monday (7 days), 7a-5p
  • Stroke Clinic Week: Tuesday-Friday (4 days), 32 patient-facing hours
  • No required nights
  • Managing your own patient panel, with support of physician, seeing new and follow-up stroke patients
  • Relocation assistance provided if qualified

An ideal candidate will have prior neurology experience with high attention to detail.

  • APRN or PA-C degree from an accredited program
  • Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one
  • BLS certification and DEA
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health's credentialing process

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
