Sample Maker

This is a part-time, on-site position in Miami, FL, Tuesday and Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Job Purpose: This position involves precise sample sewing based on specific guidelines and templates, ensuring high-quality samples and production outputs. The sample makers' responsibilities are critical to maintaining the quality of patterns, fit standards, and construction details.

Duties: The primary responsibilities of a Sample Maker revolve around sewing a sample according to specification and a pattern. Duties include operating and understanding sewing machine and adaptors, ensuring the machinery is in working order. Additionally, Sample Makers are expected to monitor and apply the quality of materials and trims, aligning them with industry standards. They must efficiently manage the sample sewing process in communication with the pattern maker and technical designer.

• Interpret design specifications and technical drawings, to create accurate high-quality samples that meet or exceed our quality standards
• Able to sew a variety of materials, knits and woven, adopt machine and stitches as needed.
• Able to utilize tools, and techniques to fabricate prototypes, ensuring they adhere to design specifications and production requirements.
• Experience with cover stitch, overlock, flatlock, all machine and stitches type used in knits and women fabrics, meeting desired construction and finishes.
• Collaborate closely with pattern maker, technical designers and manager to provide feedback, troubleshoot issues, and refine the design, patterns, and sewing constructions as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of our sample-making processes.
• Able to help measure garments as needed, be able to learn and understand point of measurements standards.
• Able to cut own samples prior to sewing if necessary.
• Participate in organizing and cleaning the sample closet, fabric room and trim closet as needed.

Additional Information:

• 3-5 years previous experience
• In depth knowledge and understanding of all fabric types and how these react to help manipulate in sewing.
• Requires minimal physical effort (lift 10 lbs.)
• Average level of mental effort
• Must be able to work in a team setting environment as well as independently
• Able to sit for extended periods of time
• Prolonged standing, bending over cutting tables, or odd postures
