The Fountain Group is a national staffing firm and we are currently seeking a ­­­­­­­­Chemical Operator for a prominent client of ours. This position is in ­North Chicago, IL 60064.   Details for the position are as follows:

Position Title: Chemical Operator II
Work Shift: 3rd Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Pay Rate: $33/hour

Job Description

We are seeking a Chemical Operator II to support wastewater treatment operations in a 24/7 production environment. This is not a laboratory role —the setting is like that of a brewery. Candidates will work on a shift team , with everyone assigned their own station and responsibilities daily.

Production activities may involve working in clean room environments, operating sophisticated equipment, and performing inspections of parts and product. Operators will be expected to set up and monitor equipment, maintain accurate records in compliance with GMP standards, and follow both written and oral instructions under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform production activities in wastewater treatment/chemical operations.
• Operate, set up, and monitor mechanical and chemical processing equipment.
• Accurately document work performed in logs, systems, and GMP records.
• Collaborate with teammates to support continuous 24/7 plant operations.
• Apply critical thinking to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and use of proper PPE.

• Ability to follow directions (written and oral) and work independently or in a team.
• Strong mechanical aptitude (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, automotive, etc.).
• Attention to detail with accurate documentation skills.
• Reliability, strong work ethic, and consistent attendance.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn chemical processes.
• Integrity and collaboration skills.

Education & Experience

• Military experience is a good fit.
• Must pass a physical and respirator fit test.
• Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing is highly desired.
• Mechanical certifications are a plus.
