Position Overview Candidates should possess strong content knowledge as well as a desire to teach and work with young adults. MA Dept of Elementary and Secondary Education Chapter 74 license in Dental Assisting and/or teaching experience preferred. Non-licensed applicants may be eligible for a one-year waiver to complete Preliminary License requirements, provided they can pass a CORI and fingerprint background checks, have an Associate degree or higher related to the subject matter and skills to be taught, possess at least four years full‑time work experience related to dental assisting, and possess required dental assisting certification. Cape Cod Tech, located in Harwich MA, offers robust, hands‑on technical education to high school students living in a twelve‑town district. Students obtain industry certifications and credentials as well as their high school diploma to prepare for careers and college. Expectations are that the selected candidate must have strengths in these areas in order to best support student learning and outcomes. Licensing Requirements Chapter 74 teaching candidates typically take and pass the MA Vocational Literacy Test and Chapter 74 written and practical exams in Dental Assisting within the first year of hire in order to obtain a Preliminary Teaching License. Within five years of employment at Cape Cod Tech, candidates with a Preliminary License complete seven technical education training courses in order to obtain Professional teaching licensure.
